Bronze Geometric Horse Statue
This Bronze Geometric Horse Statue is solid cast and unique in its monumentality. The endeavours and experimentations of the craftsman are obvious in the somewhat unskillful treatment of the bronze and the unsuccessful joining of the two parts it comprises. From the beginning of the 7th century BCE solid cast works were replaced by hollow ones. Look at the text and figurine on either side for a comparative scale. Attributed to an Argive workshop. Early 7th century BCE.
