Nafplion (Ναύπλιο) is an old and historical town on the Peloponnese in Greece. Nafplio was the first capital of the modern Greece (1829-1834). In the old city the Venetian architecture co-exists with the Turkish decoration and the neoclassic elegance. It is definitely one of the most beautiful provincial towns in Greece. Nafplion is situated on the Argolic Gulf in the northeast Peloponnese. Most of the old town is on a peninsula jutting into the gulf; this peninsula forms a naturally protected bay that is enhanced by the addition of man-made moles.
