The lovely, and edible, table centerpiece: In an effort to save some money, and to make the centerpieces as useful as possible, I designed a centerpiece that was mostly edible. This would be a great centerpiece for any event on a budget.
I purchased 18 straw hats at $0.99 each at the local craft store, four 300-yd spools of curling ribbon at $2.99/spool also at a craft store (in red, blue, white, and yellow), and fruits at Sam's Club (oranges, apples, and bananas).
Rose Diaz put these together but curling the ribbon just so and placing the fruit in each basket.
On the suggestion of our treasurer, Susan Schroeder, we purchased gold chocolate coins (5-lb for $25 at an online store) to toss on the table, which James did so elegantly :)
All in all, each centerpiece averaged out to $3.75.
When the evening was done, the guests took the remaining fruits, and we donated the hats that weren't taken, and the remaining ribbon to our RE program. |
